Privacy policy and terms of use
This page covers the 1984 Custom Homes app (iPhone and iPad) and this website. It says what data we collect, why we collect it, who can see it and what you can ask us to do with it — in plain language, not in legal noise.
We collect the account details you give us, the information about your build and the photos and messages you send. We use them to run the work and to keep you informed. We do not sell your data, we do not run ads, we do not track you across other apps or sites, and the public pages never show your name, phone, address or what you paid.
Privacy
1.Who we are and what this policy covers
1984 Custom Homes is a home builder and interior designer based in Fort Worth, Texas, working in Fort Worth and surrounding areas. This policy covers two things: the 1984 Custom Homes app for iPhone and iPad, and the website www.1984customhomes.com.
1984 Custom Homes is responsible for your data. You can write to us or call us at +1 (817) 657-5935 (phone, WhatsApp or text message), Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
2.What data we collect
- Your account: full name, email, phone, username (your email or phone) and password. The password is stored encrypted (bcrypt), never in plain text, and we cannot read it.
- Your build: project name and type, description, address and city, budget, dates, status and progress percentage.
- Progress photos: the image, who uploaded it, when, and any comment written with it.
- Messages: the text, who sent it, to whom, and when.
- Payments: amount, date, method and note for the payments our office records. Never card details: the app does not take or process payments.
- Phone notifications: the token the device notification service gives us, the platform and the device name, so we can deliver your alerts.
3.What we do NOT collect
- Your location. The app does not ask for or use GPS.
- Your contacts or address book.
- The microphone. No audio is recorded (the app asks for camera and photos permission, not microphone).
- Ads or tracking. There are no ads, no advertising profiles, no tracking across other apps or sites, and we do not sell data to third parties.
- Third-party analytics. There is no usage-measurement service inside the app.
4.Why we use the data
- To run the build: stages, dates, assignments and progress.
- So the client can follow their project, their photos and their payments.
- Communication: messages inside the app and alerts on your phone (for example, a task assigned to you, or new photos).
- Invoicing and recording the payments made on the build.
- Customer service and technical support.
We do not use your data for anything else. And we do not make automated decisions about people: the progress of a build is set by the crew, not by an algorithm.
5.Who can see it
Each account sees only what belongs to it, and the server checks that on every request — not the app:
- Client: their projects, their photos, their payments and their conversations.
- Crew member: the tasks assigned to them and the photos of those tasks.
- Supervisor: the builds and tasks under their charge.
- Admin: the whole business (projects, clients, tasks, photos and payments).
Photos are not public. They do not live in an open folder: they are served one by one, only to a valid session that has permission over that project. The folder holding the files is blocked over HTTP.
6.Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent data. It only leaves our systems in these cases:
- Phone notifications: the alert text and the device token go through the notification service (Expo) and Apple (APNs), which are the ones that deliver the notification. That is the only data that leaves for this.
- Site infrastructure: the website is served through Cloudflare and our server, which see technical traffic (IP address, time, page) like any website.
- Website fonts and icons: the site loads fonts from Google Fonts and icons from cdnjs (Font Awesome), which receive the IP of the visitor. The app loads nothing from there.
- Legal obligation: if a court or authority requires it, within the scope required.
7.Photos and their metadata
Photos you upload are stored as they come out of your phone. We do not strip the metadata the camera writes (date, phone model and, if you had location enabled in the camera, where the photo was taken).
If that matters to you, you can avoid it yourself: in your phone camera settings, turn off saving location before taking the photo. If you already took it and would rather send it without that data, tell us and we will upload it from the office.
8.How long we keep it
Your account data, for as long as the account exists. The job file —stages, photos, progress and payments— is kept afterwards, as a record of the work carried out and for accounting obligations.
If you ask us to close your account, we delete your personal data (name, email, phone, password) and the devices registered for notifications. The record of the build stays, without your contact details.
9.How we protect it
- Encrypted connection (HTTPS) between the app, the website and the server.
- Passwords encrypted with bcrypt: not even we can read them.
- Sessions with their own token and expiry date; when you sign out, the session closes.
- Role permissions checked on the server on every request.
- Photos outside the public web tree: the folder is blocked and each file is served only with permission.
- Database backups and strict validation of everything uploaded (real file type, size, format).
No system is perfect. If there were ever an incident affecting your data, we would tell you and explain what happened.
10.Children
The app is meant for adult clients and for company staff. It is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child gave us their data, write to us and we will delete it.
11.Your rights and how to use them
You can ask us to see what data we hold about you, to correct it (you can change your email and phone yourself in Profile, inside the app), to delete it, and to object to a specific use. There is no fee, and you do not have to explain why.
How to ask: call, send a WhatsApp or a text message to +1 (817) 657-5935 with the email or phone on your account. We answer within 30 days at most.
If you live in California, you also have the rights given by that state's privacy law (to know what is collected, to ask for deletion and to opt out of sale): we do not sell data, so the last part always holds. If you are in Texas, this page applies just the same.
12.Changes to this policy
If we change something important, we update the date at the top and let you know inside the app. The version that applies is always the one published on this page.
Terms of use
13.What this service is
The app is a work tool from 1984 Custom Homes: it lets the client follow their build and lets the crew organise stages, photos and messages. It is not a shop or a marketplace, it does not connect clients with third parties, and it does not replace your contract for the work: if there is any discrepancy, the signed contract prevails.
14.Your account
- Client accounts are created by the client in the app. Crew and office accounts are created by the company.
- One account per person, with true details: that is how we reach you about your build.
- The password is yours and is not shared. If you think someone knows it, change it from Profile and tell us.
- You can ask us to close your account whenever you want (see the rights section).
15.Acceptable use
By using the app you agree not to upload illegal or offensive content, not to try to reach anyone else's data, not to use the app to harass anyone, and not to automate requests or mass-copy content. The app is for people: it is not built for bots.
If someone misuses their account, we may suspend it. If that happens, the person is told.
16.Content and build photos
The information about the work (stages, photos, progress and payments) is part of the job file and belongs to 1984 Custom Homes.
By uploading a photo, you give 1984 Custom Homes permission to use it and show it as part of its work, including the public "Our Work" section of the website and the app. That section shows the project name and its city, the stages and the photos. It never publishes the client's name, phone, email, address, budget or what they paid.
If you would rather your build did not appear in the public section, ask the office and it is taken out. The photos stay in your project, inside the app.
17.Payments and money
The payments you see in the app are an informational record kept by the office: nothing is charged inside the app and no card details are stored. The official amount and the way you pay are those in the contract and in the receipts the office gives you.
18.Availability and accuracy
We work to keep the app and the website up, but we cannot promise there will be no interruptions (maintenance, the internet out at the site, or causes outside our control). The app is a help to follow the progress; if something looks different from what happened on site, what the office says prevails.
19.Limitation of liability
The app is provided as it is. 1984 Custom Homes is not liable for indirect damages arising from using the app or from being unable to use it, nor for what third-party services outside our control do (such as the phone notification service or your internet provider). None of this affects the rights your contract for the work gives you, or those the law grants you.
20.Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, and any matter will be brought before the courts of Tarrant County, Texas.
For any question about this page or about your data: +1 (817) 657-5935 (phone, WhatsApp or text message), Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. 1984 Custom Homes · Fort Worth, Texas.
This page explains in plain language how we handle your data and the rules for using the app. It does not replace your contract for the work, nor legal advice if you need an opinion about your own case.
